SHOW WORKINGS FOR FULL MARKS

1. A landlady rented over house for $24,000.00 for one year.

  During the year she paid 15% of the rent as income tax.

  She also paid 25% of the rent as property tax and spent

  $2000.00 on repairs. Calculate

a) the landlady’s total expenses

b) the remainder of the rent after the landlady’s expenses

c) the percentage of the rent she spent on repairs

2. Mr. Jones bought a car for $5600.00 and later sold it at 90% 

  of the original cost. He spent $1310.00 out of the amount 

  received and invested the rest at 6% per annum simple 

  interest. Calculate the interest earned in 3 years.

3. A student bought a golden plated wrist watch at a discount 

   of 20% at a popular Shopping mall in London. What was the 

   original price of the wrist watch if he paid £2,500?

4.  A bank charges 2  1/2% commission for issuing a Bank 

   draft to its customers. How much is the total amount that a 

   customer that is paying #840,000 school  fees of her child pay 

   to obtain a Bank Draft with face value of #840,000.

PROJECT: Design and make a SQUARE BOARD using hardboard.

The board should NOT have less than 20 small squares on a side.

The side of each small square should not be less than 2cm OR 

Design and make a NUMBER LINE using hardboard.
